Ms. Simpson agreed that parents have the right to be notified in advance of, and to withdraw their children from, classroom lessons dealing with topics like homosexuality, abortion and contraception. However, she emphasized that she herself does not consider these topics to be controversial, which puts in doubt whether she would have the necessary motivation and energy to fight for the rights of parents when a real case arises.
