During a media interview in January 2023, Mayor Shoemaker gushed his approval of a Drag Queen Story Hour event that took place the same day at a Sault Ste. Marie library, even going so far as to attend the transvestite spectacle himself. These events are notorious for deliberately implanting homoerotic and transsexualist concepts into the impressionable minds of young children, effectively grooming vulnerable youngsters for a life of erotic obsessions and sexual self-harming (see Quotes tab). Only days earlier, in a City Council meeting, Mayor Shoemaker threw his support behind a shocking Motion that was introduced by Councillor Angela Caputo to declare that "Sault Ste Marie city council proudly embraces our diverse population, including our budding drag community." Shoemaker not only voted for the Motion, but also made a point of verbally praising it for the record. The timing in which this obscene Motion was put forward in Council, just days before the transvestite "Drag Story Time" event, was clearly meant to discredit a planned protest by concerned citizens who opposed exposing children to transvestitism and sexual confusion.

Mayor Shoemaker has not yet responded to CLC's 2022 municipal election survey, so his views on abortion are not known.

1. Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions, and increasingly, are involved in dispensing the chemical abortion pill. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? 2. Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? No responseNo responseNo responseNo response
3. Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? No responseNo responseNo responseNo response
4. There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw, if it were ever proposed? No responseNo responseNo responseNo response
